Empowering Legal Professionals through access opportunity and mentorship
About us & our brand vision
What began as a campus based initiative has grown into a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access and strengthening representation within the legal field. Women In Law Organization was founded to address a critical gap in access, mentorship, and guidance for students pursuing careers in law.
Too often, aspiring legal professionals that are particularly women and first-generation students navigate the legal pathway without structured support, professional networks, or clear direction.
Women In Law Organization was created to change that
OUR MISSION
As an organization, we are dedicated to expanding access, opportunity, and representation to further empower pre-law and legal-interested students through mentorship, education, leadership development, and community-based programming that equips individuals with the resources, guidance, and confidence needed to navigate the legal journey.
OUR VISION
We envision a more equitable and inclusive legal profession where those from all backgrounds have meaningful access to mentorship, education, and pathways into law.
Our Values

Niki Bahrehmand,
An organization inspired by personal values and commitment to becoming an attorney started as a shared idea between Niki and her best friend, Faith Shafipour and grew into a mission-driven community designed to expand access, mentorship, and leadership opportunities for students navigating the path to law school.
Niki is a Southern Methodist University Alumna, class of 2025. Her journey into the legal field has been shaped not by guaranteed access, but by persistence, curiosity, and a deep belief in equity. As she explored the profession, she recognized that many capable students are not held back by ability, but by a lack of guidance, mentorship, and professional exposure. The legal field can often feel inaccessible without insider knowledge or early direction.
Rather than waiting to create change later in her career, Niki chose to build something alongside her own journey. Women in Law Organization was intentionally designed to provide more than meetings- it offers structured mentorship, leadership opportunities, professional development, and access to legal professionals who understand the realities of the field. At its core, WILO reflects her belief that leadership is rooted in responsibility and service, not titles.
As the organization continues to grow into a rapidly expanding nonprofit community, Niki remains actively involved in mentoring members, shaping its national vision, and creating a nationwide chapter in the local North Texas area. Through WILO, she is committed to cultivating confident, ethical, and informed future legal leaders , individuals who will one day strengthen and transform the profession themselves.
At its core, WILO reflects Niki’s belief that leadership is not about titles, but about responsibility. The organization was intentionally designed to offer real opportunities, not just meetings, but mentorship, resume-building roles, and exposure to professionals who understand the realities of the legal profession. Niki believes that students should not have to navigate this path alone, nor should access to guidance be limited to a select few.

CEO & Professional Mentor Niki Bahrehmand is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Women in Law Organization. She started the organization with the goal of creating a supportive community for women interested in pursuing careers in law, particularly for students who may not have access to mentorship or guidance as they begin exploring the legal field.
Niki graduated from Southern Methodist University with degrees in Philosophy and Psychology and is currently working as a litigation paralegal while preparing to apply to law school. Throughout her undergraduate experience, she became passionate about building spaces where students can learn about the legal profession, develop confidence in their goals, and connect with others on the same path.
Through the Women in Law Organization, Niki focuses on expanding mentorship opportunities, increasing access to legal resources, and helping students better understand the law school journey. Her vision for the organization is to create a strong network of aspiring lawyers who support one another, share knowledge, and empower the next generation of women in the legal field.
COO & Professional Mentor Meera patel
Meera Patel is the Chief Operating Officer of the Women in Law Organization. She is passionate about creating spaces that support and empower women pursuing careers in law, especially during the early stages of the pre law journey when many students feel overwhelmed or unsure about where to begin.
Meera currently works in the Chief Legal Office at Bestow, where she supports compliance and legal initiatives within the company. She has also worked at multiple law firms, where she gained firsthand exposure to the legal profession and the realities of working in the field. These experiences helped her understand how difficult it can be to navigate the path to law school without mentorship or guidance.
As a student pursuing a career in law herself, Meera believes that access to information, mentorship, and community can make a huge difference for aspiring lawyers. Through the Women in Law Organization, she hopes to help build a supportive network where students can ask questions, learn about the law school process, and feel more confident pursuing their goals.
